Winner of the Week: Do206 + Do512!
Two metros get in on weirdly apocalyptic amounts of traffic.
For those of you butting your heads against the wall trying to come up with new list ideas, check out a few inventive lists from the likes of Do206 and Do512 that paid serious traffic dividends:
- Do206's "We're Fucked" Earthquake List and Best Bars to Get Kicked Out Of: In the past two weeks, Do206 has had their 3rd and 4th highest trafficked articles of the year, combining for a total of 3.8K pageviews. Their Earthquake suvival kit list and Don Sheets Guide to Ballard Bars got 70% of their traffic from social, thanks to $35 in paid promo and, even more importantly, some organic social sharing. Their Ballard Bars post got a cool 19 shares producing 10K organic reach on the post, plus some great shares from the venues featured in the list.
- Do512's Weird List: Austin made good on the city's independent business rallying cry by creating this "Weirdest Things in Austin List." It was an immediate hit on social, to the tune of 341 shares and just under 115K organic reach. That translated to over 15K site pageviews, making it the 5th largest non-SX article on Do512 for the entire year. All told, Do512's site traffic was up an impressive 80% from the year prior. Sadly, no mention of the actually very bonkers Keep Austin Weird site though.
You guys know your scene better than anyone else, so when making lists, think - what matters to our audience? You can create another "5 places to get coffee" list, or you can be the arbiter of what actually counts as weird in your city. 1) Think of a punchy title 2) Push the hell out of it on socials 3) Make sure you hit up every single person you featured in the list to share your FB post.
We'll be waiting to see what great stuff you guys produce, but in the meantime, check out all of your previous week's stats below:
