How You (and the Network) Did Last Week - 7/11/2017

No comments:

Winner of the Week: Do214

We're continuing the previous KPI update's theme of metros benefitting immensely from cultural event listings. Last week, Do214 had their highest week of traffic ever, thanks largely to the performance of these two event pages, which combined for 8,433 sessions. For comparison, that's 28% more sessions than Do214's entire site-wide weekly traffic average in 2016.

4,217 of those sessions came from organic search, with Do214 ranking impressively highly for searches like "fireworks in dallas tonight", "garland fireworks" and "dallas fireworks tonight", while a direct link from the local ABC station's website drove another 1,245 visits.

Two weeks in a row, two metros have had their highest weeks of traffic ever because of organic search wins like these. Who's next?! Who wants help setting up scrapers to bring in these sorts of events?!

There were a lot of other wins to celebrate from last week: Boston's traffic is up 556% from last week last year; Tijuana's up 438%; St. Louis 409%; and Austin had their highest week of traffic since SX, to name a few. Hats off to all of your hard work!

How You (and the network) Did Last Week - 7/7/2017

Winner of the Week: Do314

Our St. Louis team experienced a parade's worth of organic search traffic last week, propelling them to their highest week of traffic ever (a 615% increase from the same week last year).

Do314, who had previously averaged 6,514 weekly sessions over the prior 8 weeks, acquired 16,326 sessions last week from organic search alone -- mostly driven by people searching for things to do over 4th of July weekend and finding these 5 events, all of which were featured on Do314's 4th of July To-Do List.

Do314's General Manager Sarah Berkowitz had this to add:

Claire (Boxdorfer - CM) did a great job making sure we had as many established 4th of July events/fests on site at the beginning of the summer/early June.... Each of these events is a very well established, family-friendly holiday celebration around the region. What's interesting is that all of them are on different sides of town, so the ones that grabbed the most traffic truly cover the 4 corners of STL.

Having complete and accurate event listings for all of our cities' cultural goings-on is paramount to our mission of helping people find awesome stuff to do. You never know which events are going to be your organic search kingpins, and the only way to set yourself up for success is by having complete coverage of everything happening in your hood.

How You (and the network) Did Last Week - 6/27/2017

Our network had our highest week of traffic ever last week (545,171 visits)! Congratulations, team. But while there may be 20 metros, there is only one Khalid, and with that in mind...

Winner of the Week: DoLA

DoLA had their highest week of traffic of all time last week, largely driven by the crushing performance of their RSVP for Khalid's concert at Santa Monica Pier. The event racked up 40,190 RSVPs and 73,916 pageviews throughout last week (plus another 2,789 from their Twilight Concert Series ECP), making it one of the most successful RSVPs in network history.

Twitter highlights from the event included:
These stats speak to the power of:
  1. leveraging your owners' connections
  2. leveraging our RSVP platform
Regarding #1, DoLA's General Manager, Ben de Ayora, had this to share:

The partnership came through our owner's relationship with the pier and the group that has been putting these shows together for 10 years. It's incredibly important that GMs take full advantage of everything their owners have to offer. We have been lucky enough to really grow with this series and other metros should be looking for free concert series where they can come in an ad value through an ECP or with media.

Regarding #2: Despite being frequently referenced as a 'bread and butter' component of our product, only 5 metros have more than 5 active RSVPs on their site as of this update - and 7 don't have any at all. Please let us know how we can help you with that.

For starters, one note is that all metros' RSVPs live at doXYZ.com/events/rsvp - and we highly recommend checking out other cities for inspiration on what sort of offers you can put together, especially DoLADo312 and doNYC. Content Managers can learn more about our RSVP platform's functionality here.

But! RSVPs or no RSVPs, our network had a stellar week last week. Thanks to you all for making it happen! Click below to see all of the updated KPI stats - and please let us know what questions you have.
