Last Week's Highlights

Woot! You may notice that we're slightly tweaking the format of these emails in order to better highlight more metros doing more awesome stuff, even if it all doesn't share a common theme. Goodbye "Winner(s) of the Week", hello "Last Week's Highlights"!

Thanks to an array of awesome event, editorial and /p/ pages, rad giveaways and RSVPs, and kickass user lists, the DoStuff Network had an all-time week last week. The list of accomplishments network-wide include:
  • 3rd Highest Site Traffic (535,972 visits)
  • 8th Most New Site Visitors (290,883 new visitors)
  • 10th Highest Site Engagement Rate (up 1,156% from last year)
  • 4th Most Unique Email Clicks (96,615 unique clicks)
Here's a short list of the metros that helped us accomplish these awesome metrics:

Do303
  • The Do303 Launch Party page earned 4,074 pageviews and 1,252 RSVPs, helping gain 1,922 new email subscribers last week to beef up the young metro’s list. The giveaways included prizes like a set of skis from Icelantic Skis, guitars from Fender Guitars, a round trip party bus from Boulder to Denver and concert tickets.
  • How to replicate: The key takeaway here is curating awesome sponsors and partners able to offer sick prizes and giveaways to entice party goers to RSVP, enter the giveaways (and give you their emails) and ultimately, help you throw a kickass party.
Do816
  • Do816 broke all sorts of metro records for Facebook engagement and site traffic. This super successful Facebook post with a pre-sale code for Japanese j-pop/metal girl trio, BABYMETAL, was their most engaging post of the week. Piggybacking off of unprecedented organic traffic from their Flyover 2018 ticket giveaway (3,825 pageviews; 93% from organic search) and this Selfie Boutique event page (1,158 pageviews; 96% from organic search).
  • How to replicate: Ticket giveaways and pre-sale codes. Pre-sale codes and ticket giveaways. Do816's success this year has been built off of being able to offer unique perks for these events and capitalizing off of the traffic from both search and social. If you're giving it away for free, the users will come.
Do512
  • Continuing to rock SX2018 (and break site traffic goals) Do512 has been steady adding more and more RSVPs to their SX RSVP page (over 200!) since last week, and are really putting in the work to make this the best SX yet, including plenty of their own party announcements (Galactic Interactive, Strange Brew, The Big One). There was also the 89th Annual ABC Kite Fest event page which netted 6,178 pageviews (4,854 from organic search).
  • How to replicate: You don't need a SXSW to offer your users a ton of compelling RSVPs. If you haven't browsed their Do512 SX2018 lense, go check it out for awesome ideas on how to organize such a robust /p/ page that links to a number of editorials, user lists, event pages and RSVPs.
doNYC
  • We loved these Guide To Free Yoga in NYC (2,680 pageviews; 96% from email) and Meet New York's New Nap Club (2,379 pageviews; 97% from email) /p/ pages that were both very successful in email.
  • How to replicate: The Free Yoga Guide is particularly replicable, and shouldn't take more than a simple Google or Facebook search to find similar events in your city (especially in the Spring!).
Do604
  • Do604's Ultimate Juno Weekend Giveaways saw 1,287 pageviews last week and has earned 451 entries so far. The Juno Awards are the Canadian Music Awards in Vancouver for 2018 and Do604 is on the host committee as a curation programming partner and media partner to national events. They're providing festival lens, line-up scheduler, large giveaway and a promo campaign. This is a high-brow partnership for the metro, and is one that everyone should be striving to replicate. We're looking forward to seeing the final results!
DoTheBay
  • DoTheBay's Blurry Vision Festival event page and ticket giveaway netted the metro 14,498 pageviews last week (8,313 from organic search; 2,092 from email) -- which is insane. It also had 2,981 entries (1,552 of which are new users). DoTheBay continues to earn over-the-top organic search traffic for event pages relative and engaging to their audience.
So many other metros did amazing work last week that weren't mentioned here. We just want to say THANK YOU to every metro in the network for all of your hard work last week, and every week, to push above and beyond these goals. You rock!

New Hires

We'd like to welcome two new all-stars to our network:

DoStuff's new Sales Marketing Coordinator, John Mathew Bernal, started this Tuesday in Austin. He'll be developing sales materials, media plans, network case studies and so much more to make our network win.

Do312's new Sales Support & Account Manager, Emma Berger, joined Do312 in their brand new office this Monday. Emma will be executing programs, managing client relationships, generating campaign reports and so much more. See today's #HotGoss email to learn all about her.

Our Sales team is deep in the trenches with SXSW. We'll report back with a fresh round of proposals after the fest.

Onward and upward we go! Let us know if you have any questions as you...
