How You (and the network) Did Last Week - 1/5/15

Happy 2015!

Before we go completely out with the old and in with the new, here's a reminder that the last 2 weeks of the year (12/22/14-1/4/15) are updated in the Weekly KPI report.

Who closed out 2014 with a bang? To name a few:
Do512 AND Do317 had their highest weeks of traffic by far since we started tracking weekly stats 6 months ago. The vast majority of this is due to traffic to each metros' NYE page (with an assist from Do512's Free Week page). This shouldn't be any surprise if you've read the previous Weekly KPI report emails. Regardless, nice work guys!

However Winner of the Week this time goes to...

...Do214! They had their 2nd highest week of traffic since June, and the reason for their success rests on one great editorial strategy: Re-contextualizing popular evergreen content. In this particular case, that meant taking their already successful Brunch List and expanding it so they could feature a "NYE Hangover Brunch" list on their site.

This type of content should be easy to produce, provided you've already taken the first step of creating popular existing evergreen content that you can repurpose for holiday-specific traffic. So if you've followed our suggestion in the past of creating a "brunch spots around town" list, this should be a no-brainer.

If you need more convincing check out the results for Do214.Their NYE Hangover Brunch page:
  • Accounted for 8% of total traffic over the last week, and was the second most popular page, gaining more traffic than the hompage.
  • Received the most organic traffic on FB than any of Do214's posts over the last week.
  • Was the second most popular piece of content in their newsletter (after their NYE list), accounting for 26% of total clicks.
Here's to a year of KPI reports astronomically bigger than last year! Check out the most recent 2 weeks below, and start making those resolutions:
